Ogden Rising: Ben Lomond Hotel Restoration
The Standard Examiner reports this morning that the Ben Lomond Hotel has been recently repossessed by the lender after the previous owners defaulted on their loan. Great news! Fortunately for Ogden, the lender is a private party with a penchant for restoring historic landmarks. The new owners are at work restoring the property now. I look forward to seeing the finished product. It will be yet another economic boost to the city when it is done.
Hi, found your blog from an ad on craigslist for a house in clinton (we're looking for a house to buy.) Anyway...just looking through the rest of your blog and came across this one about the Ben Lomond. I have not heard about the lenders and it being repossessed. But I hope the new owners or the new lender will make it beautiful. My husband and I stayed there a couple of years ago for an anniversary it was so disappointing. I thought it would be a lot nicer than it was. The money we spent we could have stayed at a much nicer hotel.
ReplyDeleteThe Ben Lommond Hotel has been in a state of suspended animation for some time. I think the new owners realize the same thing you discovered on your anniversary: The hotel isn't competitive like it is right now.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, with some capital invested in the building, it will be nice enough for your next anniversary.
