JUST SOLD! Art Deco Cottage

I just closed on this home that was renovated by an investor and purchased by a great young couple from Salt Lake City.  This 3 bed 1 bath home was originally purchased as a bank owned property for $48,000.  It was dead on arrival.  After some major upgrades, the home was resold for $104,000.  Here is the before and after video for your enjoyment:

I have a couple more historic restoration homes coming on line soon. If you are in the market for an affordable home with architectural appeal and fine finishes send me an email.

I'm glad it sold! Unfortunately, it's style is not Art Deco. Depending on it's age, it would be easiest called a Post War Cottage. Though you could add that it has some minimal traditional elements of the Tudor Revival style such as the overhanging pediment entryway and the multi-paned windows. A great buy nonetheless.

There are some elements of Art Deco in there. The brass doorplates were definitely art deco. The remaining elements are traditional. This home was built in 1936 during the depression. I believe this may have been a "kit" home from Sears or some other catalog ordered home provider. Many times people would order the kit and assemble it themselves. There are many examples of those kinds of homes in Ogden. For example, there are some traditional Sears plans on the south-west corner of 30th and Monroe.
