Ogden Temple Reconstruction Update: Steeple Up

Progress continues on the Ogden temple.  While the upper part of the edifice is still wrapped in scaffolding, the lower part has its granite exterior in place.  It isn't readily visible from the street unless you drive real slow and peek though the gates to catch a glimpse.

I have to give the church credit for keeping things discrete with ample privacy fencing.  It keeps gawkers like myself from being an annoyance to the crews at work.  However, one thing they can't hide with privacy fencing is the work going on with the steeple.

For the past week the crews have been applying the finish to the steeple on the ground.  Finally it was time to hoist it to its proper place.

By nightfall it was in place.  Here is the view now from my daughter's bedroom window:

It looks like work on the exterior is quickly finishing.  I am excited to see what finishes are in store for the interior.

Ogden Temple Reconstruction - Easter 2013 Update

The Ogden Temple reconstruction project continues to plod along.  Meanwhile, some of the land surrounding the temple lot continues to receive attention.  Within the past several months the half block east of the temple site was worked on some more with structures being scrapped along Ogden Ave.   Hence, Ogden Ave. has become a great vantage point to view the work going on below:

I have been impressed with the sheer size of the building.  When finished, it will be one of the most prominent buildings in the downtown skyline.

I am told that the new temple is anticipated to host about 600 weddings per month after its dedication.  That is an amazing difference since the previous structure hosted very few.  Certainly the new activity will bring even more vitality to this part of the city.

We recently sold a beautiful home just a block away with a view of the temple from the kitchen window.  If you are looking for a home in this area of town, CONTACT ME, and lets find a home that is right for you.

Ogden Temple: June 2012 Renovation Update

The work on the Ogden temple continues forward.  You can see pictures from last summer's update HERE

The exterior appears to be taking shape as concrete pouring has been completed to form the shell of the structure.  Wood supports have recently been removed from the massive window openings.  I am sure these acted as braces while the concrete cured.  The main level of the building has some type of exterior covering and new window inserts.

It's great to see the work progressing.

Ogden Temple Renovation: July 2011 Update

The Ogden Temple renovation is in high gear and crews continue to dissemble the facade of the temple structure.  The picture below was taken July 25, 2011.

The exterior paneling is being removed and exposing the inner steel frame.  The windows in the tabernacle have also been removed.

In this photo you can see that the two story parking structure that existed to the west of the tabernacle has been completely removed.  All that remains are piles of dirt.

The LDS Church is typically very discreet and protective about its temples and their construction, hence the green privacy fence.  Based on what has been announced through the press, the construction process will continue another two and a half years.  Click here to see what the finished product will look like.
